All Creatures Small and Smaller

My favourite world - that of insects. Started with damselflies and grew to dragonflies. Now includes beetles, bugs, butterflies and bees. And a prime bit of alliteration too!
Problem for many, is that insects are known as “creepy-crawlies” and unfortunately, mud sticks. Yet there is so much beauty in this micro-world. Whether it is the almost furry cute bumble bee, or a shiny demoiselle, spend a little time with insects and you will find an intriguing, unique genus with many redeeming features.
My photographic year is almost split neatly into two. Winter half devoted to birds/mammals, generally travelling the country with our local birding group. Summer half chasing insects. Both carry their fair share of frustrations. Many of us have spent ages waiting for that bird to sit on the right perch, then to look in the right direction, without flying off just as the shutter button is pressed. Believe me, insects can be just as annoying. Dragonflies during daylight hours tend not to stay still, period!
But as I say, look at the smaller picture, peer into flowers and nettle patches. You’ll never know what you’ll find!
